Hot new plugins launch Companion Products Program

A Java developer's work involves much more in the way of tools than just the IDE. There are so many potential add-ins, plugins, etc. out there that could help you work better and enjoy it more, but it seems there's never enough time to find reliable auxiliary tools and test them out, right?

That's why JetBrains is kicking off a new program: JetBrains Companion Products. As a tool user, you can save a lot of time and effort locating third-party tools and add-ins that are integrated for IntelliJ IDEA. You can be confident about Companion Products because we've already tested them to be sure the integration is solid. And if you develop IntelliJ-IDEA integrated tools, JetBrains Companions might be a new way to reach potential customers.

For starters, we've teamed up with Sixth and Red River Software to bring you three powerful new refactoring and code analysis plugins for IntelliJ IDEA: Refactor-J, Refactor-X, and Inspection-JS.

Developers will want to check out the potent new Java™ and XML refactorings in Refactor-J and Refactor-X, and the very cool new Javascript code analysis support in Inspection-JS that can report on over 70 common Javascript problems.

All three plugins maintain the high level of usability IntelliJ IDEA is famous for, and feature seamless integration with popular version control systems. You can find out more about them and download with a 14-day free trial at www.jetbrains.com/companions.

SPECIAL INTRODUCTORY SAVINGS!
For a limited time, these productivity-boosting plugins are available at special introductory discount pricing:

  • Refactor-J: $49 US
  • Refactor-X: $39 US
  • Inspection-JS: $49 US

(Prices are per single-developer license.)

Holiday Special! Through December 31, you can buy a special bundle that includes all 3 plugins for just $99. To purchase any or all of Refactor-J, Refactor-X, and Inspection-JS, visit: http://www.jetbrains.com/companions/.

JetBrains sparks a new era of programming with the first public EAP of MPS

After months of intense development, it is finally here! The new language workbench, code-named the Meta-Programming System (MPS), has been opened to public review in JetBrains' renowned Early Access Program (EAP).

This new tool represents the future of software development, as expressed by Sergey Dmitriev's vision of Language Oriented Programming. Language Oriented Programming (LOP) is a style of programming in which specialized programming languages and environments are developed in conjunction with programs, giving more freedom and power to the programmer, ultimately making programming easier, more fun, and more productive.

Language Oriented Programming, and related initiatives, has been gaining momentum in recent months, with interesting developments by Microsoft, Intentional Software, Xactium, and several others. It is now clear that this is the right direction for software development to head into the future.

We at JetBrains believe that making good tools for developers should greatly rely on developers' opinions. Our Early Access Program lets the development community closely participate in discussions devoted to JetBrains MPS and also influence the planning and development from the early stages onwards. We hope this EAP will be both valuable and exciting, just as EAP program for IntelliJ IDEA is. We highly appreciate your feedback and ideas!

Warning: It is important to distinguish EAP from a pre-release software. Please note that the quality of EAP versions may at times be far below even usual beta standards.

Come and join the MPS EAP, and experience the future of programming today!
