Properties Files Editor
Dedicated Properties file type
The .properties file type is provided for better handling of the build properties and internationalization issues. IntelliJ IDEA recognizes the most common properties syntax: key - delimiter - value
Most common delimiters (minus, equal sign and colon) are supported.
Keys can be both simple and complex. Complex keys allow different separators, such as dot (.), dash (-), slash (/). It is also possible to specify custom delimiters.
Code completion for properties
IntelliJ IDEA provides its smart completion feature for the .properties keys. They can be completed in Ant build files, Java String literals, etc. Use Ctrl + Space to quickly insert properties.
IntelliJ IDEA detects various problems related to properties files such as duplicate properties, unused properties, and missing parameters in format strings. For instant solving of discovered problems, IntelliJ IDEA provides intention actions and quick-fixes that can safely remove redundant or unused properties and parameters.
