The Event Log tool window displays a log of events that took place in IntelliJ IDEA.

Item Tooltip and shortcut Description
settings1 Settings Click this button to show the Notifications dialog, where you can select which events you want to be notified of and also which events should be logged.
iconShowBalloons Show balloons Click this button to enable or disable showing notifications.

Note that this button is a toggle which turns the corresponding feature on or off.

When showing notifications is enabled, you are notified of the events that take place in IntelliJ IDEA. The corresponding notifications are shown in the balloons.

The alternative way to enable or disable this feature is by means of the Display balloon notifications check box in the Notifications dialog.

icon_softWrap Use Soft Wraps Click this button to toggle the soft wrap mode of the output.
scrollToEnd Scroll to the end Click this button to navigate to the bottom of the event log.
resetProfile Mark all as read Click this button to mark all notifications in the console as read.
help Help (F1F1) Click this button to open the corresponding help topic.

Note

The exceptions are displayed in red. Clicking the more link opens a balloon with the exception description. Clicking the description link opens the IDE Fatal Errors dialog box, where you can review the errors and report bugs.
