You can save any existing project as a user-defined template.

Once created, such template can be used for creating new projects. When not needed, it can be deleted.

To create a project template
  1. Open the desired project in IntelliJ IDEA.
  2. On the main menu, choose Tools | Save Project as Template.
  3. In the dialog box that opens, specify the following:
    • Entire project or a module to be used as the basis for the new project template.
    • Name of the template.
    • Optional description.

    IntelliJ IDEA saves the template, and makes this template available under the User-defined node of the New Project wizard.

To delete a project template
  1. On the main menu, choose Tools | Manage Project Templates. The dialog box displays the list of all available project templates.
  2. Select the template you want to delete, and click delete, or press Alt+DeleteCommand Delete.

    The template is deleted, and no longer available in the New Project wizard.
