While editing PHP code or a Smarty template, you need to monitor how the changes are rendered, so you have tp switch to the browser and reload the corresponding tab manually every now and then. With PhpStorm, you can do it without leaving the editor.

Note

Reloading files from PhpStorm is currently supported for the Firefox browser only.

To reload a page in the browser
  1. Switch to the editor tab where the file in question is opened.
  2. On the main menu, choose View | Reload in Firefox.
  3. Optionally, configure a shortcut for the Reload in Browser or Reload in Firefox action.
