ReSharper is a commercial software, copyright protected under international law. Each copy of the product requires a license.

For new users, ReSharper offers a 30-day free evaluation period. During this period, you can enjoy full functionality of the product and decide whether it suits your needs. To use this option, click Free Evaluation in the License Information dialog box and click OK. Free evaluation period will start from this moment and you can see how many days are left next to this option.

Before the free evaluation period is over, you need to specify product license information in one of the following ways:

  • If you are an individual developer, you can purchase the product license on the ReSharper website and specify license information.
  • For corporate clients, ReSharper allows storing and distributing license tickets through JetBrains License Server. The server allows enterprises to establish limited or unlimited number of product licenses and distribute them within the corporate network. The benefit of this approach is that as soon as the user closes the application, his or her license ticket returns automatically to the server and becomes available for other users. To use this type of licensing, you need to set up obtaining license tickets from the License Server.
  • If the licenses are distributed through the License Server and you are planning to work without access to the corporate network, you can obtain a permanent license ticket from the License Server and then return it when necessary.

Tip

You can check the status of your license in the License Information dialog box or in the About dialog box.

To specify license information after purchase
  1. On the main menu, choose ReSharper | Help | License Information. The License Information dialog box opens.
  2. In the License drop-down list, click Single User.
  3. In the corresponding fields, enter your user name and license key that you receive after you purchase the product.
  4. Click OK.
To set up obtaining license tickets from the License Server
  1. On the main menu, choose ReSharper | Help | License Information. The License Information dialog box opens.
  2. In the License drop-down list, click From License Server.
  3. Specify License Server location:
    • If automatic License Server discovery is configured by your system administrator, select the Auto detect check box.
    • Otherwise, enter full URL of a License Server instance in the License server text box.
  4. Click OK.
To obtain a permanent license ticket from the License Server
  1. On the main menu, choose ReSharper | Help | License Information. The License Information dialog box opens.
  2. Make sure that From License Server is chosen in the License drop-down list.
  3. Click Obtain Permanent License. The Obtain Permanent License dialog box opens.

  4. In the Email address text box, enter your valid e-mail address. Click Send Request.
  5. In the Activation key text box, enter the key which you've got via e-mail. Click Activate License.
  6. Click Close.

Note

If your License Server distributes a limited number of licenses, the license ticket that you hold remains unavailable to other users until you return it.

To release a permanent license
  • On the main menu, choose ReSharper | Help | Return Permanent License. The confirmation dialog box opens, click Yes.
  • On the main menu, choose ReSharper | Help | License Information. The License Information dialog box opens. Click Release Permanent License.
