Logging In

YouTrack login form

YouTrack makes it easy to log in for everyone: instead of registering a new account, you can log in using:

  • OpenID provided by Google, Yahoo, AOL, or Blogger.com.
  • Your existing JIRA credentials if you have migrated to YouTrack from JIRA and JIRA integration is enabled in your installation.
  • Credentials stored in your corporate directory service if LDAP integration is enabled in your installation.

Commenting Issues

You can comment issues in several ways — for example, from the list of issues or from full issue view. YouTrack saves the draft of the comment, so you can refresh any time without losing your data. Another valuable option is to comment multiple issues using the Command window: select issues, press Ctrl+Alt+C or Ctrl+Alt+J, type your comment in the Comment text box, and press Ctrl+Enter.

Voting for Issues

Vote for issues in YouTrack

Do you want a certain feature implemented faster? Vote for it using a square button below issue ID in the list of issues or full issue view.

Changed your mind? Click the button again to withdraw your vote.

Watching Issues

Clicking the Star issue button Star button at the left of issue ID adds you to the issue watchers list and subscribes you to updates of this issue that you can receive via jabber or e-mail, dependent on how you have configurednotifications.

Issues become watched automatically when you comment, or vote for them.

Use the Star tag to review issues that you're watching.

Sometimes it's crucial to notify another user of an issue that was created or updated.

Use Star on behalf of command and specify user name to add user to the list of issue watchers. Users, added to the watchers list will receive notifications about issue changes, unless they have manually unsubscribed from Star tag notifications.

Sharing Tags

Tag settings dialog box

When you create a tag or at any time afterwards, you can configure who is able to use the tag. Specifically, you can choose which groups are allowed to view the tag and which are able to add new issues to it.

Both settings are configurable through the Edit tag dialog box that you can open through the Tags area.

Sharing Searches

You can share saved searches similar to sharing tags — that is, you can allow a group to view your saved search and/or change its name.

Notifications

You can receive notifications on various issue events using your e-mail and/or jabber account. In your user profile, you can configure notifications precisely how you want to get them ? specifically, you can subscribe to or unsubscribe from notifications:

When you modify an issue yourself.

When a member of a corresponding project team opens your issue for the first time.

When someone updates, resolves, votes for, or comments an issue associated with a certain tag or saved search.

YouTrack merges closely related modifications into one e-mail and supports threading.

User Visualization

User Visualization

You can view the current status (online or offline) of any YouTrack user, such as issue reporter, assignee or commenter, right next to his or her user name.

Visual association is established between users and groups by adding the group icon to user avatars. By looking at any avatar, you can see exactly which group that user belongs to.
