Java Developer’s Journal Readers Name IntelliJ IDEA Most Innovative Java Product of 2003

More than 15,000 JDJ Subscribers Choose “Oscars of the Software Industry”

February 26, 2004

PRAGUE, Czech Republic, February 17, 2004 – JetBrains™, Inc., creator of intelligent application development tools for the Java™ platform, announced today its IntelliJ™ IDEA 3.0 Java Integrated Development Environment (IDE), has been named Most Innovative Java Product of 2003, in the annual Java Developer’s Journal Readers’ Choice Awards presented this week at Edge 2004 East, in Boston.

In the annual competition, more than 15,000 readers of Java Developer’s Journal, a leading publication for software developers, vote during a 10-month period for winners in a wide variety of categories. The JDJ Readers’ Choice Awards, often called the “Oscar of the Software Industry,” are administered by SYS-CON Media. The full Awards results are available at http://sys-con.com/java/.

“At JetBrains, we offer the most progressive, cutting-edge developer tools, and we are honored that JDJ readers named us for this year’s Most Innovative Java Product award,” said Eugene Belyaev, President, Chief Technology Officer at JetBrains. “This award is important confirmation that our fellow developers recognize the value of IntelliJ IDEA innovations.”

“2003 turned out to be a watershed year for Java, with enterprising companies taking Java beyond the server to mobile devices, automobile sensors, vending machines, point-of-sale systems, airline seat-backs – all the while knowing that J2SE 1.5 would soon be on its way to speed up deployment. The nomination and award process whereby JDJ’s readers have given JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA a Readers’ Choice Awards strongly reflect this renewed energy and expansion of Java, and the Award shows JetBrains to be one of the industry’s absolute leading players in the highly competitive Java space,” said Joe Ottinger, editor-in-chief of JDJ.

JetBrains continued breaking ground in IDE technology this year, with the recent release of IntelliJ IDEA 4.0, further widening its technology lead in the industry. The new version, immediately available for purchase, includes such labor-saving features as support for Java SDK 1.5 Generics, a highly automated GUI Designer, and fully integrated version control based on the respected open-source CVS system.
