# JetBrains AI

> For the complete documentation index, see [llms.txt](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/llms.txt).

JetBrains AI is the default provider for AI-powered features in JetBrains products, including [AI Assistant](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/ai-assistant/about-ai-assistant.html) features and featured agents (Junie by JetBrains, Claude Agent, Codex). It is deployed as a cloud solution on the JetBrains side and does not require any additional configuration on your end.

> **Note:**
> The JetBrains AI provider is always available and cannot be deleted. It is used as the default unless you specify a different provider in an [AI policy](ai-policies-configure.html#provider).

JetBrains AI integrates various large language models (LLMs), including third-party models such as Claude, Gemini, and GPT family, as well as several proprietary JetBrains models. For details, see [JetBrains AI Service Providers](https://www.jetbrains.com/legal/docs/terms/jetbrains-ai/service-providers/).

By default, all models supported by JetBrains AI are available in the organization, and any model released later becomes available automatically.

> **Note:**
> You can't edit the [configuration](ai-providers-manage-models.html#edit-model-configuration) of the available models or add models that JetBrains AI doesn't support. To use a specific model version or a region-specific model ID, add the model through a [BYOK provider](ai-providers.html#byok-providers) that offers it, and select that provider in an [AI policy](ai-policies-configure.html#provider).

## Manage available models

> **Note:**
> This feature is currently in preview and may work with limitations.

You can control which models from JetBrains AI are available in your organization by disabling the Allow all models toggle and removing or adding models in the Models table.

The list of models applies to the entire organization. Every principal whose [AI policy](ai-policies.html) has JetBrains AI selected as an [AI provider](ai-policies-configure.html#provider) can use any model from the list.

Procedure: Restrict available models

If you don't want some of the supported models to be used in your organization, remove them from the list. For example, you may want to prevent the use of expensive models or models from a specific vendor.

> **Warning:**
> Currently, some AI tools such as [Air Gateway](cli-about.html), [Air Teams](what-is-air-teams.html), and [AI Assistant](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/ai-assistant/about-ai-assistant.html) may still show the removed models, for example, in the agent's model selector. However, requests to these models will fail. How the failure is reported depends on the tool.

>
> Also, some features of AI tools and agents may stop working if they rely on the removed models. After you restrict the list, check that the AI tools your organization uses work as expected. If something stops working, [add the models back](#add-jetbrains-model) or enable Allow all models.

1. In the sidebar, under AI governance, select Providers.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are inactive, make sure your role has the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions)[permissions](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/roles.html#permissions).

2. In the JetBrains AI provider card, disable the Allow all models toggle.

While the toggle is disabled, models released later are not added to the list automatically.

3. Search for a model you want to remove, then click ![Ellipsis icon](images/union.svg) and select Remove model.

> **Note:**
> Some models appear in the list more than once under the same name, for example, a Claude model provided directly by Anthropic and through Amazon Bedrock. Such model entries have different Provider model ID values. If you don't want such a model to be used in your organization, remove all its entries.

To remove multiple models, select them using checkboxes and click Delete models below the table. Alternatively, you can select the checkbox in the table header to select all models, then clear the checkboxes of the models you want to keep and click Delete models.

> **Note:**
> At least one model must remain in the list. To stop using JetBrains AI, select a different [AI provider](ai-policies-configure.html#provider) in the [default policy](ai-policies.html#default-policy).

4. In the dialog, click Remove to confirm the action.

The models are removed from the table. Users and service accounts in your organization can no longer use them. It can take several minutes before the updates take effect in agents and user IDEs.

You can [add](#add-jetbrains-model) the removed models back to the list later one by one, or enable Allow all models to restore the full list of supported models.

Procedure: Add a model

When the Allow all models toggle is disabled, you can add any model that JetBrains AI supports to the list, including models released after you disabled the toggle.

1. In the sidebar, under AI governance, select Providers.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are inactive, make sure your role has the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions)[permissions](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/roles.html#permissions).

2. In the JetBrains AI provider card, open the Add model dropdown below the table and select a model.

3. In the dialog, click Save to confirm the action.

The model appears in the Models table and becomes available to users and service accounts in your organization. It can take several minutes before the updates take effect in agents and user IDEs.
