# AI settings

> For the complete documentation index, see [llms.txt](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/llms.txt).

Use the AI settings page to enable AI-powered features in your organization, manage AI credits, and control data collection options. Additionally, there is a separate tab with the status of [AI Enterprise](https://www.jetbrains.com/ide-services/ai-enterprise/), which is part of the [JetBrains IDE Services](https://www.jetbrains.com/ide-services/) suite.

> **Note:**
> Viewing the page requires the [View AI settings](roles.html#permissions_view_ai_settings) permission. Managing AI settings requires the [Manage AI settings](roles.html#permissions_manage_ai_settings) or [Manage organization](roles.html#permissions_manage_org) permission.

You can enable AI for all users in your organization at once, or grant AI access manually per user.

Procedure: Enable AI

1. Expand the AI governance section and select Settings.

If you don't see this page, your role doesn't have the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions)[permissions](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/roles.html#permissions).

On the AI settings page, below the On and Off switches, you will see how many [AI credits](ai-governance.html#ai-credits) are available in your organization. If you don't have any AI credits in your organization, there will be a button to buy them.

2. Click On to enable AI in your organization.

You can select to grant AI access to all users in your organization at once or [manually per user](ai-access.html#direct-and-group-based-ai-access).

> **Note:**
> Both options apply to users only. Service accounts never get AI access automatically. You must always explicitly [grant AI access](ai-access.html#grant-ai-access) to a service account.

3. Select the I have read and I accept the [JetBrains AI Platform Terms of Service](https://www.jetbrains.com/legal/docs/terms/jetbrains-ai-platform/) on behalf of my organization checkbox.

You cannot save your choice until you accept the terms. If your organization has already accepted the terms, the checkbox is selected and cannot be changed. You don't need to accept the terms again.

4. Click Save and wait for the changes to take effect.

It may take up to one hour for the settings to update.

Procedure: Change AI access settings

1. Expand the AI governance section and select Settings.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are inactive, make sure your role has the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions)[permissions](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/roles.html#permissions).

2. Click Change access settings in the top right of the AI settings page.

3. In the dialog, select to grant AI access to all users in your organization at once or [manually per user](ai-access.html#direct-and-group-based-ai-access).

> **Note:**
> Both options apply to users only. Service accounts never get AI access automatically. You must always explicitly [grant AI access](ai-access.html#grant-ai-access) to a service account.

4. Click Save changes and wait for the changes to take effect.

It may take up to one hour for the settings to update.

Procedure: Disable AI

3. In the dialog, select Off.

> **Note:**
> The Off option applies only to release IDE builds activated with a license owned by your organization. It does not apply to IDE EAP builds or Community editions.

4. Click Save changes and wait for the changes to take effect.

It may take up to one hour for the settings to update.

AI is disabled for everyone in your organization, including users and service accounts, and is blocked in all IDEs activated with a license owned by your organization.

Disabling AI removes access granted directly to users and service accounts. Access granted [through groups](ai-access.html#direct-and-group-based-ai-access) is retained. When you re-enable AI and grant AI access to all users, they get access again automatically. If you choose to grant AI access manually per user, members of retained groups regain access, while other users must be granted access again. For details about how to choose the access option, see [Enable AI](#enable-ai). Service accounts are always re-granted per account.

On a paid plan, all [AI seats](ai-seats.html) return to the shared pool while AI is disabled. AI seats are assigned again when you re-enable AI and users regain access.

## Manage plans

A plan defines which AI governance features are available to your organization. The Basic plan is free and covers the essentials, while the Business and Enterprise plans add advanced AI governance. For more information, see [Feature comparison](plans-and-pricing.html#feature-comparison).

Your organization can only be on one plan at a time. On a paid plan, a user must have an [AI seat](ai-seats.html) assigned to use AI-powered features. Service accounts don't need a seat on any plan.

The number of AI seats you buy defines how many users can use AI-powered features, so it should cover everyone in your organization who needs AI. For details about how seats are assigned, see [AI seats](ai-seats.html).

On the AI settings page, you can check your current plan. On a paid plan, you can also see the number of AI seats you purchased and the date the plan renews or ends. You can upgrade to a paid plan at any time. It usually takes a few minutes for the new plan and the purchased AI seats to take effect. You can [switch back to the Basic plan](#switch-to-the-basic-plan) later.

Procedure: Upgrade to a paid plan

1. Expand the AI governance section and select Settings.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are inactive, make sure your role has the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions)[permissions](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/roles.html#permissions).

2. In the Current plan card, click Change plan.

3. On the Choose a plan page, select the Business plan.

> **Note:**
> To upgrade to the Enterprise plan, click Contact sales in the Enterprise card and submit your request.

4. In the AI seats section, specify the number of AI seats you want to buy, and choose how often you want to be charged for them: monthly or annually.

The number of AI seats is prefilled with the number of users who currently have AI access. You can change it to a different number. If you specify fewer AI seats, users who were most recently granted AI access won't get AI seats and won't be able to use AI-powered features. To let them use these features later, you can [buy additional AI seats](#buy-additional-ai-seats) or revoke AI access from users who no longer need it. For more information, see [Users without AI seats](ai-seats.html#users-without-ai-seats).

> **Note:**
> The final price is calculated during checkout in the JetBrains eStore and may vary based on local taxes, currency, and billing details.

5. Click Continue to checkout and complete the payment in the JetBrains eStore.

When the payment is complete, close the JetBrains eStore tab to return to JetBrains Console.

After the purchase is processed, your organization is switched to the Business plan and automatically assigns the purchased AI seats to the users who already have AI access.

To change who gets an AI seat, [grant](ai-access.html#grant-ai-access) or [revoke](ai-access.html#revoke-ai-access) AI access on the AI access page.

Procedure: Switch to the Basic plan

You can switch to the Basic plan if you no longer need access to the advanced AI governance features.

1. Expand the AI governance section and select Settings.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are inactive, make sure your role has the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions)[permissions](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/roles.html#permissions).

2. In the Current plan card, click Manage plan.

The Products and services page opens and shows your current subscription.

3. Cancel the subscription.

The switch takes effect at the end of the current billing period: the end of the month or the end of the year. Until then, your organization stays on the paid plan, and the amount already paid is not refunded. Your AI credits are not affected by the plan change.

In the Current plan card, the banner shows the date the plan will switch to Basic. Until that date, you cannot change your plan in Air Governance. You can still buy additional AI seats before that date. In this case, you pay only for the days left in the current billing period.

> **Note:**
> If you cancel a subscription but then decide to stay on the paid plan before the switch to Basic takes effect, [submit a support request](https://console-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/requests/new).

After the switch:

* The configuration of [AI policies](ai-policies.html), [MCP servers](air-gov-mcp-servers.html), [agents](ai-agents.html), and [AI providers](ai-providers.html) no longer takes effect, but it is saved in case you return to the paid plan later.

* AI credit limits from AI policies are replaced by a single [organization-level default limit](#default-ai-credit-limit).

* Your organization no longer has AI seats, and the seat requirement no longer applies, so all users with AI access can use available AI-powered features if they are within their credit limit.

## Manage AI seats

AI seats are [purchased](#upgrade-to-a-paid-plan) together with a paid plan. If you need to grant AI access to more users than you have AI seats, you can buy additional seats.

> **Note:**
> An organization is billed for the number of AI seats it purchases, not for the number of AI seats currently assigned to users. Reassigning an AI seat from one user to another does not affect billing.
>
>
>
> You can buy additional AI seats at any time, but you cannot reduce their number within a billing period that is already paid for.

Procedure: Buy additional AI seats

1. Expand the AI governance section and select Settings.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are inactive, make sure your role has the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions)[permissions](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/roles.html#permissions).

2. In the AI seats card, click Buy AI seats.

The JetBrains eStore opens in a new browser tab.

3. Specify the number of AI seats to add and complete the payment in the JetBrains eStore.

When the payment is complete, close the JetBrains eStore tab to return to JetBrains Console.

After the purchase is processed, new AI seats are added to the organization's shared pool of AI seats, and the total in the AI seats card increases. The new AI seats are automatically assigned to users with AI access who have no AI seats. If there are no such users, the new seats stay in the shared pool.

## Manage AI credits

Users and service accounts with AI access can use AI-powered features that consume AI credits.

How much each of them can spend per month is capped by their [AI credit limit](ai-credit-limits.html).

Procedure: Add AI credits

1. Expand the AI governance section and select Settings.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are inactive, make sure your role has the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions)[permissions](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/roles.html#permissions).

2. On the AI settings page, open the JetBrains Central tab to see the number of AI credits available in your organization.

3. Click Add AI credits to purchase AI credits for your organization.

> **Note:**
> To complete the purchase, you also need the [Manage purchases](roles.html#permissions_manage_purchases) permission, which is included in the [Manage licensing and billing](roles.html#permissions_manage_licensing_and_billing) permission.

Procedure: Access the AI credit usage report

1. Expand the AI governance section and select Settings.

If you don't see this page, your role doesn't have the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions)[permissions](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/roles.html#permissions).

2. On the AI settings page, open the JetBrains Central tab.

3. In the upper-right corner of the AI credits card, click View usage report.

> **Note:**
> This link is visible to anyone who can view this page. Viewing the report additionally requires the [View AI analytics](roles.html#permissions_view_ai_analytics) permission.

4. Review the data on the AI credits consumption page. For details, see [AI credits consumption](ai-credits-consumption.html).

Procedure: View AI credits migration details

3. In the AI credits card, click See migration details.

4. Review the data on the Migration information page.

The page shows how your licenses and other credit sources were converted to [AI credits](ai-governance.html#ai-credits). For more information, see [Converting to a shared pool of AI credits](converting-from-licenses-to-ai-seats.html).

The Captured at timestamp shows when the migration snapshot was taken.

The table lists, for each converted credit batch, the Credit type, Source, original Amount, and the resulting number of AI credits, with a Total row at the bottom.

5. To export this data, click Download in the upper-right corner of the page.

In addition to the columns shown on screen, the downloaded CSV file includes the expiration date for each credit batch. Use it to track when credits from a particular batch will expire.

Procedure: Set the default credit limit

The AI credits per user per month field sets the default [credit limit](ai-credit-limits.html) for every user and service account with AI access, unless another [credit limit source](ai-credit-limits.html#credit-limit-sources) applies.

> **Note:**
> If your organization is on a [paid plan](plans-and-pricing.html), this field is hidden. Set the default limit in the [Credit limit](ai-policies-configure.html#credit-limit) field of the [default policy](ai-policies.html#default-policy) instead.

1. Expand the AI governance section and select Settings.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are inactive, make sure your role has the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions)[permissions](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/roles.html#permissions).

2. On the JetBrains Central tab, change the limit in the AI credits per user per month field and click Save.

> **Note:**
> A limit of 0 stops AI credit spending entirely, without revoking AI access.
>
>
>
> Changing a limit doesn't affect the AI credits already spent this month: only the maximum available value changes.

### Auto-purchase AI credits

You can configure an auto-purchase to automatically buy AI credits on a recurring schedule. The purchased credits are added to your organization's shared credit pool. Each organization can have only one auto-purchase at a time.

> **Note:**
> Viewing and managing auto-purchases requires both the [Manage AI settings](roles.html#permissions_manage_ai_settings) and [Manage purchases](roles.html#permissions_manage_purchases) permissions, or the [Manage organization](roles.html#permissions_manage_org) permission, which includes both.

AI credits are valid for one year from the purchase date. For example, credits purchased on 1 August 2026 are valid until 31 July 2027, inclusive.

Procedure: Configure an auto-purchase

1. Expand the AI governance section and select Settings.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are inactive, make sure your role has the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions)[permissions](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/roles.html#permissions).

2. On the AI settings page, open the JetBrains Central tab and click Configure auto-purchase.

3. In the Frequency field, select how often AI credits should be purchased: monthly or yearly.

4. In the Next date field, select when the first purchase should happen.

For yearly auto-purchases, AI credits are purchased on the same date every year.

For monthly purchases, AI credits are purchased on the same day each month. If the selected day doesn't exist in a given month, the purchase is scheduled on the last valid day of that month instead. Each following date is calculated from the previous purchase date. For example, if you select the 30th of the month, the purchases happen on January 30, February 28 (or 29), then March 28, and so on.

5. In the Payment method field, select a payment method.

To update your existing payment methods, click Manage payment methods. If no payment method is available, click Create payment method to add a new one.

> **Tip:**
> If you add a payment method in a separate browser tab while this dialog is open, it won't appear in the list until you close and reopen the dialog.

6. In the Purchase amount field, specify the number of AI credits to purchase in each period. The minimum purchase amount is 5 AI credits.

7. Click Save.

The configured auto-purchase appears on the AI settings page.

To view or edit the auto-purchase details, click Manage under Auto-purchase card. To remove the auto-purchase, click ![Ellipsis icon](images/union.svg) and select Remove auto-purchase so AI credits are no longer purchased automatically.

Editing is available only if you own the payment method used for the auto-purchase. If the auto-purchase uses another admin's payment method, you can still view and remove it, but not edit it.

> **Note:**
> If a scheduled payment can't be processed, the error message is displayed under Auto-purchase on the AI settings page. Update the payment method to resolve the issue, or remove the failing auto-purchase and configure a new one.

## Corporate trials

If your organization is eligible, you can activate a corporate trial that includes a limited number of AI credits to evaluate AI-powered features for a trial period. The trial offer becomes available only after you [enable AI](#enable-ai) for the organization.

> **Note:**
> You can activate a trial offer only once. The offer remains available on the AI settings page until you activate it or until it expires.

Trial AI credits are added to your organization's shared credit pool and expire when the trial ends. These credits are shared among all users and service accounts with AI access and [consumed before all other AI credits](plans-and-pricing.html#ai-credits) in the pool. The monthly [credit limit](ai-credit-limits.html) applies to each user and service account as usual. The AI credit source doesn't affect how the limit is applied.

> **Note:**
> When the trial period is over, your organization's configuration remains unchanged: AI remains enabled, and AI access granted to users and service accounts is preserved. Users with AI access keep using AI-powered features and consume credits from the other sources in your shared credit pool.

Procedure: Activate corporate trial

1. Expand the AI governance section and select Settings.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are inactive, make sure your role has the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions)[permissions](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/roles.html#permissions).

2. On the AI settings page, click See trial details in the banner.

3. In the dialog, review the trial offer, click Activate trial, then click Done.

The trial starts and remains active for its duration. The trial AI credits are added to the organization's shared credit pool and appear on the [AI settings](#add_ai_credits) and [AI access](monitor-ai-credit-usage.html#view-available-ai-credits-for-organization) pages in the corresponding cards.

To track your trial AI credit usage and when the credits expire, hover over the Trial active label in the AI credits card on the AI settings page. The tooltip shows the used AI credits, the remaining trial AI credits, and the expiration date.

## Code-related data collection

JetBrains may collect code-related data from your users only if you and your users allow this. By default, AI tools and features will not share any code-related data, and your users cannot opt in. If you allow data collection, users will be able to enable data sharing in their IDEs.

Procedure: Allow data collection

Enabling data collection helps JetBrains improve products and AI features. For information about our data collection policy, see [Product Data Collection and Usage Notice](https://www.jetbrains.com/legal/docs/terms/product_data_collection/).

1. Expand the AI governance section and select Settings.

2. In the Detailed code-related data collection section, select Let users decide.

Users in your organization will be able to decide whether to allow data collection in their IDEs.
