# Hosted VCS

> For the complete documentation index, see [llms.txt](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/air/llms.txt).

The Hosted VCS page lets you connect self-hosted version control systems to Air Governance at the organization level. A connection is specific to your organization and to an instance of a version control system that runs on your organization's infrastructure. Once a connection is established, the instance becomes available as a VCS provider in JetBrains Air and other services based on Air Governance that use repository connections.

You can connect the following self-hosted version control systems:

* [GitHub Enterprise Server](github-enterprise-server.html)

* [GitLab Self-Managed](gitlab-self-managed.html)

A connection is established through an application running on your version control system instance. Air Governance uses this application to access repositories. Access to repositories depends on the version control system: you either select which repositories the application can access, or each user's own permissions on the instance determine which repositories they can see.

> **Note:**
> To connect an instance and manage connections, you must have the [Manage organization](roles.html#permissions_manage_org) permission.
