macOS version of CLion offers you two bundled debuggers at your choice: LLDB and GDB. LLDB is the default setting but you can switch to GDB, if that is your preference.
To change the debugger, do the following:
Navigate to Preferences | Build, Execution, Deployment | Toolchains.
In Debugger section of the right pane, select the desired debugger.
