File | Settings | Version Control | Mercurial

Use this page to specify the version control settings to be applied to the directories of your project that are under Mercurial control.

Item Description
Changesets In this area, specify whether you want IntelliJ IDEA to detect incoming and outgoing changes in the background mode.
  • Check for incoming and outgoing changesets: select this check box to have IntelliJ IDEA automatically request the server for incoming and outgoing changesets. Automatic requests are sent every 5 minutes.

If the check box is cleared, IntelliJ IDEA does not send any requests to the server until you synchronize manually.

Path to hg executable In this area define the location of the Mercurial executable file.
  • Specify executable path - in this text box, specify the path to the Mercurial executable file. If necessary, click the Browse button browseButton.png and select the directory in the dialog box that opens.

If you followed the standard installation procedure, the default location is /opt/local/bin or /usr/local/bin for Linux and OS X and /Program Files/Mercurial for Windows.

It is recommended that you add the path to the Mercurial executable file to the PATH variable. In this case, you can specify only the executable name, the full path to the executable location is not required. For more information about environment variables, see Path Variables.
