Using Visual SourceSafe Integration
This feature is supported in the Ultimate edition only.
The Visual SourceSafe (VSS) integration in IntelliJ IDEA is a helpful tool to work with a Visual SourceSafe repository. IntelliJ IDEA implements the most frequently needed commands (Open Source Safe Explorer, Check In/Out, Add, Undo Checkout, Get Latest Version); Next, Previous, Rollback, Old text actions are available from the dedicated gutter bar in changed locations. Thus, the integration is not a complete substitute for the fully functional VSS client.
To use SourceSafe integration with IntelliJ IDEA, make sure that:
- Visual SourceSafe client is installed.
- The following limitations to the VSS options are observed in the SourceSafe Options dialog box:
- The option Use read-only flag for the files that are not checked out is checked in the Local Files tab.
- The Assume working folder based on the current project and Assume project based on working folder options should not be checked in the Command Line tab.
