Floating License Server Help

Host, port, home folder

FLS by default starts on 8080 port. To change it, follow described steps from this article.

  1. Stop FLS
  2. Run in the command line:

    <fls_home>/bin/license-server.sh configure \ --port 8181 \ --listen license-server.mydomain.com
    where 8181 is the port number you want to use and license-server.mydomain.com is the host where FLS is available for end-users.

  2. Run in the command line:

    <fls_home>\bin\license-server.bat configure \ --listen-port 8181 \ --base-url http://license-server.mydomain.com:8080
    where 8181 is the port number you want to use and license-server.mydomain.com is the host where FLS is available for end-users.

  3. If your FLS should be available via several addresses, you need to configure an alias:
    <fls_home>\bin\license-server.bat configure \ --virtual-hosts-default=all-known
    all-known means that by default the list of virtual hosts will contain all network interfaces of a server, including addresses configured for listening and server hostnames.
  4. Start FLS

FLS stores the list of available licenses, UID and the registration state in .jb-license-server which is the hidden subdirectory in the home of system user which launches the application. To change default directory, follow described steps.

  1. Stop FLS
  2. Run in the command line:

    <fls_home>/bin/license-server.sh configure \ --jb.license-server.base-dir=<here-absolute-path-to-the-directory>
    for example,
    <fls_home>/bin/license-server.sh configure \ --jb.license-server.base-dir=/home/user1/jbfls
    where <here-absolute-path-to-the-directory> is the path to directory where Floating License Server stores its system information. To keep FLS registered make sure that the data in mentioned directory is kept unchanged.

  3. Start FLS

  1. Stop FLS
  2. Run in the command line:

    <fls_home>\apps\license-server\bin\license-server.bat configure \ --jb.license-server.base-dir=<here-absolute-path-to-the-directory>
    for example,
    <fls_home>\apps\license-server\bin\license-server.bat configure \ --jb.license-server.base-dir=C:\Users\JetBrainsLS\Desktop
    where <here-absolute-path-to-the-directory> is the path to directory where Floating License Server stores its system information. To keep FLS registered make sure that the data in mentioned directory is kept unchanged.

  3. Start FLS
