PhpStorm 2019.1 Help

Updating Local Information

The Update command enables you to synchronize the contents of your local files with the repository. You can invoke this command on:

  • Single or multiple files and directories

  • An entire project

Depending on the updating options, the update procedure may take place silently. If all files are up-to-date, you will be notified about that. Otherwise, the Update Info tab opens in the Version Control tool window where you can group the information as required.

To update files and folders

  1. Select one or more files and folders to be updated in any navigation view (for example, in the Project Tool Window).

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Choose <VCS>| Update from the context menu of the selection.

    • Choose VCS | <VCS>| Update from the main menu.

  3. In the Update dialog specify the update options, which are different for the supported version control systems, and click OK.

To update the current project

  1. Do one of the following:

    The Update dialog will open.

  2. If parts of your project are mapped on different VCS systems, click the tab for the VCS mapping that should be updated.

  3. Specify the update options, which are different for the supported version control systems and click OK.

After the project is updated, you can perform deployment tasks, such as uploading files and folders or comparing them with deployed versions, directly from the Update Info tab of the Version Control tool window. To do this, right-click an item and select Deployment from the context menu. Then choose the desired action from the submenu.
