ReSharper | Find | Optimize References

The Analyze references window is used to display results of optimizing references . It displays unused assembly references, used assembly references with corresponding usages and pinned references.

Button Name Description


Helps rerun reference analysis, which is useful after modifying your code.

Expand All/Collapse All

Expands/collapses all nodes in the current tab.


Navigates to the previous/next reference usage in the result panel and scrolls through the source code accordingly.

Show Preview

Hides or shows the preview pane in the position specified using the drop-down list (in the bottom of the window or to the right of the usages list).


Opens the Export Data dialog box where you can:

  • Preview results as plain text in the Preview area and copy them by clicking Copy to Clipboard.
  • Save results as a text file by entering its name in the Save exported file as field or specifying it with the Browse button and then clicking Save.

Merge Occurrences on the Same Line

If this button is selected, occurrences that belong to the same line are merged.

Remove All Unused References

Removes all assembly references that are not used.

Remove Selected References

Removes all selected assembly references.

Filter Usages

With this drop-down list, you can select a specific type of usages to display. Several options are provided:

  • Show Read Usages (getters for properties, read methods for fields).
  • Show Write Usages (setters for properties, write methods for fields).
  • Show Invocation Usages
  • Show Attribute Usages
  • Show Other Usages (anything that does not fit into the above categories).
  • Show Related Usages
  • Show Unused References

Group by

Select a mode of grouping usages from the drop-down list. Possible options help display results as a tree grouped by type, namespace, module.


Closes the current tab.
