RubyMine 2020.3 Help

Proofreading

RubyMine helps you check that all text written in natural languages is correct. This works similar to coding assistance, but instead of incorrect programming language syntax, the IDE detects and highlights typos, spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, stylistic complexity, and so on. Besides common text files, such as your project's README.md, it can check text in your source files as well: names of classes, methods, fields, and variables, string literals, comments, and even your commit messages. For more information, see Scope of grammar checks.

By default, RubyMine includes English language support. If you open a file with several paragraphs of text in another supported language, RubyMine will detect it and show a suggestion to download and enable checks for this language. You can see the list of supported languages and enable them in the settings.

Add spelling and grammar checks for a language

  1. In the Settings/Preferences dialog Ctrl+Alt+S, select Editor | Proofreading.

  2. Click the Add button in the list of languages and select your language.

RubyMine will download the language model and enable spelling and grammar checks for it.
