June 2020 Summary. Major upgrades.

Two-factor authentication

You can now enable two-factor authentication in Space to add an extra layer of security and ensure that you are the only person who can access your account. To set up two-factor authentication, go to My Profile → Two-factor Authentication, click on Set up two-factor and follow the instructions. Pair your account with any identity verification app (for example, Google Authenticator) on your mobile device for added security and peace of mind. You can disable this option temporarily or permanently later at any time.

Pull request URLs in the console

Now when you push a new branch from the console, the URL to create a merge request is displayed there. To create a merge request, all you have to do is click on the URL or copy and paste it to your browser.

Code reviews widget on the home page

The home page in Space serves as your personalized dashboard and provides you with relevant information for your work and your team. It already has a meetings calendar and recent blog posts, as well as information about your team and the projects you participate in. Now we’ve added a Code review widget that shows you the latest code reviews you participated in. If you haven’t participated in any code reviews for the past three months, the widget will be automatically hidden.

NuGet packages support

We continue to improve Space Packages. In addition to creating Maven repositories and container registries, you can now create NuGet feeds.

Personal To-Do List

Introducing the Personal To-Do List, a handy tool for personal short-term planning. The To-Do list will help you organize your work and record your ideas to keep everything on track.

The Personal To-Do List in Space is currently integrated with Chats, Blogs, and Issues. Have you received a message from a colleague that you want to reply to later, or noticed a blog post that you don’t have time to read now? Or perhaps there is an issue that you want to include in your plans for today. Add those items to your To-Do list in one click. You can also add any items directly to the list by typing them in the input.

The To-Do list is available in the sidebar from anywhere in Space.

Turn-based code reviews

It’s not always clear who should take action in a code review. Inspired by the turn-based games we love – in which the procedure is governed by the rules of the game, and is usually clear to even the youngest of players – we've decided to introduce a turn-based code review process in Space. We've added status indicators for each of the participants, to reflect whose turn it is at any moment. Code review comments are also added as drafts and are all sent in one go when someone's turn in the review ends.

This process makes it easier for the reviewer and the author to understand the state of the review. For example, when you add someone to review your code and create a merge request, your status is changed to Waiting. Then when the reviewer opens a new item, their status is changed to Reviewing, and so on.

Azure Active Directory

We’ve added a new type of authentication module! In addition to authenticating with regular Active Directory, Google, LDAP, and SAML providers, Space now also supports Azure Active Directory (and Office 365). If you have admin permissions, you can add this module so anyone from your organization can log in to Space with a single sign-on.

Content search for diffs

We've added an option to search the contents of a diff between two versions of a file. You can use a range of criteria, including match case, words, or regular expression.

Other improvements

We’ve also made a number of other improvements:

  • The view for the side-by-side diffs page has been improved.

  • You can now change the names of existing channels in Chats.

  • Issue IDs and review IDs are now highlighted as links in Chat messages and Commit messages. You can click on the link and go directly to the issue or the review.
