Setting up e-mail notifications
Upsource users will probably want to be notified of different events going on in Upsource such as creating and closing reviews, assigning reviewers and creating new comments.
To configure Upsource to send out e-mail notifications:
- Click the settings icon on the top right of the screen. The Administration view will open.
- Click Set up email notifications. You'll be redirected to the Settings form.
- Follow the instructions to fill out the form and configure SMTP connection.
To avoid clatter, Upsource aggregates events happening shortly one right after another, sending them in one notifcation message.
Each user can also customize the types of events he wants to be notified about using his personal user settings, or disable e-mail notifications altogether.
Enabling users to add comments by e-mail
The mail system in Upsource is not limited to sending outgoing notifications. After you have configured outgoing e-mail, you can set up a dedicated mailbox, which will then be used by Upsource for receiving incoming mail. This feature lets Usource users participate in code review discussions without ever leaving their email program.
