Obtain a Custom Domain Name for Your YouTrack InCloud Instance

If you don't already have a custom domain, you can register a domain name and use the domain for your YouTrack instance.

To use a new domain name for your YouTrack instance:

  1. Register your domain name with any domain name registrar.
  2. Provide the CNAME record for your YouTrack InCloud instance. A CNAME record, or Canonical Name record, is a type of resource record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that specifies that the domain name is an alias of another, canonical domain name. For example, a CNAME record like this: CNAME
may be read as: is an alias for the canonical name (CNAME)
  3. In YouTrack, open the Administration > Domain Settings page.
  4. Enter the URL for the custom domain in the Base URL input field.

The Base URL must include the /youtrack path, for example,

  5. Click the Save button.
    • The domain settings are updated.
    • The custom URL takes several minutes to register in your instance. We suggest that you log out and wait 10 minutes before you log back in to the secure domain.

Use SSL for the Custom Domain

To increase the security of your YouTrack instance, you can configure your custom domain to transmit data securely over SSL. This setup requires that you register your domain and purchase an SSL certificate.

To enable SSL for the custom domain:

  1. Register your desired custom domain name.
  2. Configure relation for your custom domain name and the CNAME of your YouTrack InCloud instance.
  3. Purchase and download an SSL certificate in x.509 PEM format.
  4. In YouTrack, open the Administration > Domain Settings page.
  5. Enter the URL for the custom domain in the Base URL input field.

For secure access, the Base URL should start with https:// and must include the /youtrack path, for example,

  6. Paste your SSL Private Key and Certificates in the corresponding fields. The key and certificates must be provided in PEM format. If you have several certificates, enter them sequentially with each certificate starting on a new line.

When the settings are applied, your server has both HTTP an HTTPS access enabled. To block unsecured connections over HTTP, enable the HTTPS only setting.
