Keyboard Shortcuts

YouTrack is a keyboard-centric application and provides enough keyboard support to let you forget about using the mouse in most cases. For almost any operation you need to do, whether it's creating, editing or navigating between issues, commenting, changing attributes — YouTrack provides a shortcut.

These shortcuts are mapped to keys on a keyboard with a functional layout for the English language. Keys that differ between US and UK variants are not mapped to any shortcuts. If your keyboard has a visual layout for a different language, you can switch the language preference for your operating system to English and use these shortcuts with the default mapping. Alternatively, an administrator can customize the keyboard shortcuts for your YouTrack server. For more information, see Keyboard Shortcuts.

The shortcuts on this page are grouped by the context where they can be applied when you work with issues in YouTrack. You can also download the shortcuts list in PDF format from the YouTrack website.

Issues List

Use these shortcuts to select and update issues that are displayed in the Issues list.

The current issue is the single issue that is highlighted in the list.

Single Issue View

Use these shortcuts to create and edit issues in single issue view.

Rich Text Editor

Use these shortcuts to format text in input fields that are supported by the rich text editor.

`Ctrl` + `B`	`⌘` + `B`	Sets the current selection of characters in a boldface font.
`Ctrl` + `I`	`⌘` + `I`	Sets the current selection of characters in an italic font.
`Ctrl` + `Shift` + `S`	`⌘` + `Shift` + `S`	Sets the current selection of characters with a horizontal line through the center.
`Ctrl` + `Shift` + `M`	`⌘` + `Shift` + `M`	Sets the current selection in a monospace font on a light background. This formatting is intended to indicate that the text is a short fragment of computer code.
Chrome `Ctrl` + `Shift` + `P` Firefox `Ctrl` + `Alt` + `P`	Chrome `⌘` + `Shift` + `P` Firefox `⌘` + `Alt` + `P`	Switches between Visual and Markdown mode.

Apply Command Dialog

Use these shortcuts to apply commands to one or more issues.

Use these shortcuts to set your search context and execute a search request.

Agile Boards

Use these shortcuts to work with issues that are represented as cards and swimlanes on an agile board.

When you add a new card or open a card in view or edit mode, you can use the keyboard shortcuts that work in single issue view.
The backlog is a list of issues that match a saved search. When you view the backlog, you can use the keyboard shortcuts that work in the Issues list.

Image Editor

Use these shortcuts to edit an image in the image editor.

`Alt` + `C`	`Option` + `C`	Select the crop tool. Drag to set the crop boundary. Drag the handles to adjust the crop boundary.
`Alt` + `B`	`Option` + `B`	Select the brush tool. Drag to draw a line on the image. To draw a straight line, hold down the `Ctrl` (`Control` for Mac) key while dragging.
`Alt` + `H`	`Option` + `H`	Select the highlight tool. Drag to select an area to highlight on the image. Drag the handles to adjust the highlighted area.
`Alt` + `T`	`Option` + `T`	Select the text tool. Click the image to add a callout box where you can enter text. Drag the handles to adjust the size of the callout box.
`Alt` + `U`	`Option` + `U`	Select the blur tool. Drag to select an area to blur on the image.
`Alt` + `L`	`Option` + `L`	Revert all changes to the image.
`Ctrl` + `Z`	`⌘` + `Z`	Undo the previous action.
`Ctrl` + `Shift` + `Z`	`⌘` + `Shift` + `Z`	Redo the previous action.

Use these shortcuts to work with articles in the knowledge base.
