YouTrack supports community-based localization using Crowdin, a cloud-based localization management platform. This platform lets anyone who signs up for an account suggest translations to text strings in the YouTrack user interface.
A number of community-supported languages are currently available in the YouTrack UI, including Czech, Hebrew, Italian, Polish, and Ukrainian. To learn how we handle suggestions for translations from the Hub user community, see Community-based Language Support.
If you want to configure YouTrack for use in a custom localization project, you can enable the In-context Localization feature. This feature is available on an experimental basis. To learn how to enable an experimental feature in YouTrack, see Optional Features.
The first time you access YouTrack with the in-context localization feature enabled, you should see an invitation dialog that asks you to select a target language and sign in with your Crowdin account.
Once you have logged in, a Crowdin In-Context menu is added to the lower-left corner of the user interface. This menu provides access to various settings, as well as the complete list of interface strings that have been uploaded to the project in Crowdin.
A small edit icon is added to each of the text elements in the user interface. Click this icon to suggest a new translation for the source text in Crowdin.
When this feature is enabled, in-context localization is available to every user in the system. To ensure that users are still able to work with the application to perform their day-to-day tasks, we suggest that you enable the feature in a staging or test environment that is dedicated to your translation efforts.
