YouTrack Server 2022.1 Help

What's New

We deliver updates and improvements to YouTrack on a continuous basis. Here's an overview of the changes that are available in this version.

Introducing YouTrack Server

JetBrains has officially changed the name for YouTrack Standalone to YouTrack Server. We've also changed the name for our hosted edition to YouTrack Cloud.

This change reinforces our commitment to making your experience with YouTrack as effortless and straightforward as possible — right down to the name. It will not impact the features you love to work with or the peace of mind you feel when you have complete control over your on-premises installation.

New Features

Feature

Description

Interactive Gantt Charts

Create and update your project plans directly on an interactive timeline. Set start dates, add finish-to-start dependencies, and enforce resource constraints, so you know exactly how long it will take to finish your efforts. Once your project is underway, you can schedule and assign tasks without losing sight of the bigger picture.

State-machine Rules in the Workflow Constructor

Our no-code Workflow Constructor now supports state-machine rules. Build flowcharts that illustrate your business processes using drag-and-drop tools. You can then activate the workflow in your projects to regulate transitions between various issue states.

LaTeX Mathematical Notation

Format mathematical equations with LaTeX support in issues and articles.

Import from Space

Migrate your issues from JetBrains Space to YouTrack using a predefined import script.

Updates and Enhancements

Feature

Description

VCS changes in YouTrack Lite

Software professionals who prefer working with YouTrack Lite can view VCS changes without switching back to Classic.

Search by Attributes in Linked Issues

You can now find issues by searching for attributes in their linked issues.

This means you can use any link type as a top-level search attribute and return issues that are linked to issues that match the specified sub-query.

Consolidated User Profile

The personal data and access info that are associated with your Hub account are now accessible directly from your YouTrack profile page.

YouTrack installations that are connected to an external Hub service are not affected.

References to Local Variables in the Workflow Constructor

Whenever you configure a reference to an entity in a workflow rule using the Workflow Constructor, you can reference this entity in other condition and action blocks without reconstructing the original reference.

Article-related events in the Notification Center

Get messages that inform you about changes to articles in the knowledge base in the in-app notification center.

Redesigned Project List

The updated list of projects now has a dedicated section for project templates and a cleaner, modern look.

Local tracking for spent time in IDE plugin

Save spent time locally before posting it to YouTrack as work items.

This feature comes in handy when you need to switch between tasks while tracking time spent on each of these tasks. Instead of spamming your tasks with many small work items, you now can accumulate spent time locally and post it to YouTrack in bigger chunks.

Discontinued Features

Feature

Description

AOL Authentication Module

Our preconfigured authentication module uses a protocol that is no longer supported by AOL. As a result, we have removed this authentication module from the application.

If you still have users who were logging in with their AOL accounts, you will need to migrate them to another authentication method. For a complete list of authentication modules that are supported by Hub, see Auth Modules.

Yahoo! Authentication Module

Yahoo! no longer supports the Open ID 2.0 protocol, which the standard used by the preconfigured authentication module in Hub. The option to create a new authentication module using this configuration have been removed from Hub and existing authentication modules that use this protocol will no longer work.

If you still want users to be able to log in with their Yahoo! accounts, you can use a generic authentication module that supports OAuth 2.0 instead. For setup instructions, see OAuth 2.0 Auth Module.
