Split a YouTrack Installation
You can split one YouTrack installation into two or more separate installations by starting each new installation from a copy of the original database. After each installation is available, delete the projects that don't belong there.
This approach preserves more data than importing selected projects from one YouTrack installation to another. It keeps users, groups, articles, agile boards, dashboards, workflows, and other system-level settings in each copy of the installation. A YouTrack to YouTrack import is better suited for moving a limited number of projects into an existing installation.
Split a YouTrack Server Installation
To split a YouTrack Server installation, set up each additional installation from a copy of the original database. You can then remove different sets of projects from each installation.
To split a YouTrack Server installation:
Create a backup of the original database. For instructions, see Database Backup.
Install and start an additional YouTrack Server installation using a copy of the original database. To run YouTrack with a copied database directory, use the same directory structure and access requirements described in Change Database Location.
Verify that users, projects, articles, agile boards, workflows, and integrations are available in each installation.
In each installation, delete the projects that should only remain in another installation. For instructions, see Delete a Project.
Review the base URL, license, global settings, integrations, notification settings, and permissions in each installation and update them to match the purpose of the new installation.
