# Use Cases for Saved Searches

> For the complete documentation index, see [llms.txt](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/youtrack/server/llms.txt).

Search queries and saved searches help you turn the issue list into a focused view of the work that needs attention. The right query depends on the decisions you need to make, the scope of work you are responsible for, and the type of action you need to take next.

The examples on this page show how saved searches can support common goals like planning your own work, reviewing team progress, and preparing for a release. Each use case is most relevant for a specific role, but the queries can be adapted by anyone who needs a similar view. Use these examples as starting points, then adjust the project, assignee, state, priority, and date values to match your team's configuration.

## Prioritize Your Own Work

This use case helps you build a personal queue for issues that need your attention. It is most useful for standard users who want a reliable way to review assigned work, recently updated issues, and tasks that require a response.

### Use Case

Your goal is to start each workday with a clear list of issues that need action first. You can search for unresolved issues assigned to you, narrow the results to urgent or recently updated work, then save the search as a personal attention queue.

Procedure: To create a personal attention queue:

1. From the main navigation menu, select ![](https://resources.jetbrains.com/help/img/youtrack/2026.2/issues.svg) Issues.

2. Enter `for: me #Unresolved` in the search box.

3. Add filters that match the work you want to review first. For example, add `Priority: Critical, Major` to focus on urgent issues or `updated: -1w..*` to find issues that changed recently.

4. Sort the list by priority, update time, or another field that helps you decide what to work on next.

5. Click the Save as new search link next to the issue counter at the top of the page.

6. In the New Saved Search dialog, enter a name for the saved search.

7. Click the Save button.

8. Reuse the saved search to quickly find issues that are important to your work.

| Goal | Query to try |
| --- | --- |
| Find all issues assigned to you | `for: me` |
| Find unresolved issues assigned to you | `for: me #Unresolved` |
| Find high-priority unresolved issues assigned to you | `for: me #Unresolved Priority: Critical, Major` |
| Find issues you reported that are still unresolved | `by: me #Unresolved` |

When one of these searches matches the way you plan your day, save it for quick access from the Saved Searches section of the sidebar in the Issues list. To learn more, see [Saved Searches](saved-search.html).

## Review Team Progress

This use case helps you identify unresolved work that can slow down the team. It is most useful for team leads who need to find unassigned issues, urgent work, and bottlenecks before a daily check-in or planning meeting.

### Use Case

Your goal is to review the issues that can block progress and make sure each item has an owner. You can search for unassigned or high-priority issues in the project, then save the results as a shared review list for the people who help monitor project health.

Procedure: To review team work that needs attention:

1. From the main navigation menu, select ![](https://resources.jetbrains.com/help/img/youtrack/2026.2/issues.svg) Issues.

2. Enter `project: <project ID> #Unresolved` in the search box.

3. Add `has: -Assignee` to find unresolved issues that are not assigned to anyone.

4. Remove the unassigned filter and add `Priority: Critical, Major` to review urgent unresolved work.

5. Use the issue list to assign unowned issues, add missing details, or ask assignees for status updates.

6. Click the Save as new search link next to the issue counter at the top of the page.

7. In the New Saved Search dialog, enter a name for the saved search.

8. To share the saved search with other team leads or project members who help monitor project health, activate the Shared option and select these users, groups, or teams in the Can view and use list.

9. Click the Save button.

| Goal | Query to try |
| --- | --- |
| Find unresolved work in a project | `project: <project ID> #Unresolved` |
| Find unresolved issues that are not assigned | `project: <project ID> has: -Assignee #Unresolved` |
| Find critical or major unresolved work | `project: <project ID> #Unresolved Priority: Critical, Major` |
| Review unresolved work for one team member | `project: <project ID> for: <username> #Unresolved` |

For recurring reviews, save the queries that help you monitor team progress and share them with the people who help manage the project. You can also use the same queries in dashboard widgets and reports when you need a higher-level view.

## Review Release Readiness

This use case helps you find unresolved issues that can affect delivery. It is most useful for project managers who need to review release readiness by version, due date, priority, or assignee before a release review or status update.

### Use Case

Your goal is to understand which unresolved issues might affect the delivery date. You can search for unresolved issues in the target release, then focus on issues with due dates or high priorities and save the search for ongoing visibility.

Procedure: To review release work that needs attention:

1. From the main navigation menu, select ![](https://resources.jetbrains.com/help/img/youtrack/2026.2/issues.svg) Issues.

2. Enter `project: <project ID> Fix versions: <version> #Unresolved` in the search box.

3. Add `Priority: Critical, Major` to identify unresolved release issues that need immediate review.

4. Replace the priority filter with `has: {Due Date}` to review unresolved issues that already have a deadline.

5. Open issues that threaten the release date and update their priority, due date, assignee, or fix version.

6. Click the Save as new search link next to the issue counter at the top of the page.

7. In the New Saved Search dialog, enter a name for the saved search.

8. Click the Save button.

| Goal | Query to try |
| --- | --- |
| Find unresolved issues for a release | `project: <project ID> Fix versions: <version> #Unresolved` |
| Find high-priority unresolved issues for a release | `project: <project ID> Fix versions: <version> #Unresolved Priority: Critical, Major` |
| Find unresolved issues with a due date | `project: <project ID> #Unresolved has: {Due Date}` |
| Find unresolved issues assigned to a specific team member | `project: <project ID> for: <username> #Unresolved` |

Use these searches before planning meetings, release reviews, or status updates. For ongoing visibility, save the most useful queries and add them to dashboards or reports.
