Redesigned Issues List

The new and improved Issues list is now available for general use. The option to switch back to the previous version of the page has been removed.

Experience significant improvements in performance and appearance, including dark mode.

2019.3

HTML Support in Markdown

We've extended our Markdown implementation to support HTML markup. Enhance issue content with collapsible blocks, custom text colors, line breaks in table cells, and much more.

2019.3

New VCS Integrations

You can now link your YouTrack projects to repositories that are hosted on a Bitbucket Server, Gogs, or Gitea installation.

2019.3

Issue Activity Feed Widget

Display a stream of issue-related activity for a variety of predefined event categories. Configure widgets to track updates in different projects or monitor changes applied by specific users.

Updates and Enhancements

Flexible Placement for Linked Issues

A new workspace option in your YouTrack profile lets you determine where the panel that shows linked issues is shown in views for single issues.

The default location is just below the issue summary and description. If links are critical to your daily work, you can place the panel just below the issue summary and never worry about long descriptions pushing it out of view.

2019.3.64090

Sorting Options for Work Item Types

A new option in the global settings for time tracking lets you sort the list of work item types manually or alphabetically.

2019.3.64090

New Language Options

We've enabled the option to select additional languages that are supported by community-based localization. Start working with YouTrack in simplified Chinese, Hebrew, Hungarian, and Korean.

These language options are available at the global level or as a per-user preference.

2019.3

Improved Navigation for Reports

The Reports page sports an updated sidebar that gives you one-click access to all your favorites and hides the reports you don’t use.

2019.3

Add New Issues Option for Kanban Boards

The option to automatically add new issues is now available for agile boards that don't use sprints. This helps teams that follow a Kanban flow manage all of their issues in one place.

2019.3

Links to Attachments in Markdown

Add direct links to files that are attached to an issue. Instead of making other users guess which attachment you're talking about, just point to it directly.

2019.3

Formatting Improvements for Code Blocks

We've enhanced the appearance of fenced code blocks in Markdown.

  • Blocks of code in a specified language display a language tag and line numbers for the code.

  • Blocks that are specified as text appear in a monospace font without syntax highlighting.

2019.3

Pre-authenticated Issue Attachment URLs

We've added token validation to issue attachment URLs. Files that are attached to issues can be shared on behalf of the user who copied the URL.

2019.3

Search Suggestions for User Accounts

We've optimized the logic that determines which user accounts are shown as suggested values for search queries, commands, watchers, and mentions. As a result, the Strict Suggestions feature that was previously available on an experimental basis is now supported by default in all installation types.

2019.3

Java 11 Support

We've updated YouTrack so that it is compatible with Java SE 11 and no longer relies on Java 8.

A compatible version of the Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is bundled with the installation packages for our MSI and ZIP distributions. If you run YouTrack as a JAR installation, you must install and run a compatible version of the JRE or equivalent Java Development Kit (JDK) on the server that runs the YouTrack service.

2019.3

Token-based Authorization for TeamCity Integrations

The settings for integrations with TeamCity now accept a token for authorization instead of a username and password. You no longer need to store your personal passwords in the integration settings and can freely update your passwords without breaking integrations.

2019.3

Permanent Token Generation for Other Users

Users who have sufficient permissions can now generate permanent tokens on behalf of users who have lower levels of permission in YouTrack. Authenticate logins that support third-party integrations even when the connection requires a second authentication factor.

2019.3

Historical Project IDs

YouTrack now stores the collection of IDs that were previously used as issue prefixes in a project. When you change the ID in a project, the IDs for the issues in this project are also updated.

With this update, external links to issues that use historical project IDs are redirected to issues that use the current project ID. This means that you can freely change your project IDs without breaking any links.

2019.3

Extended Support for Archived Values in Custom Fields

The option to archive values in fields that store data as a version is now extended to values in additional fields that store enumerated types. Retire values that you no longer want to use without applying unwanted updates to large batches of issues.

2019.3

Permission Updates for YouTrack 2019.3

We've simplified the permission scheme, removing dedicated permissions that granted users access to read and update the YouTrack profiles for other users. These actions were updated to require permissions from the Hub service that grant similar levels of access.

2019.3

Discontinued Features

Feature

Description

Availability

Granular Notification Scheme

The option to send separate messages for each change that is applied to an issue is no longer supported. All notifications are sent as single messages for a set of simultaneous issue changes.

Removed in 2019.3

Jabber Bot

We've removed support for interactions with the Jabber Bot. You continue to receive notifications, but can no longer search for or apply commands to issues using a Jabber client.

Removed in 2019.3

RSS Feeds

The RSS feeds that were previously supported for issues and comments are no longer available. As an alternative, we recommend that you set up and use our new Issue Activity Widget.

Removed in 2019.3

Legacy Workflows

We no longer support any workflow that was written in the external YouTrack Workflow Editor. We only support workflows that are written in JavaScript.

Removed in 2019.3

YouTrack Wiki Syntax

All of the functionality that was previously exclusive to YouTrack Wiki is now supported in our Markdown implementation. YouTrack will still display content that is formatted in YouTrack Wiki syntax, but we strongly encourage you to use Markdown to format new content.

Deprecated in 2019.3

Old YouTrack REST API

We have provided documentation for all of the public endpoints in our new YouTrack REST API. The old REST API is officially deprecated. We will discontinue support for the old REST API starting from our first release in 2020.

If you have an existing application or integration that uses the old API, we encourage you to migrate your applications to the new API. If you have any questions or require additional support, join our YouTrack Community in Slack.

To be discontinued in 2020.1
