To open the Settings / Preferences dialog
Do one of the following:
- Press ⌘, or ⌘,⌘, or ⌘,⌘, or ⌘,⌥ F7, ⌥F7 or ⌥F7^ ⌥ S, ⌃⌥S or ⌃⌥S.
- On the main toolbar, click
.
- On the main menu, choose:

Press
⇧⌘A or ⇧⌘A⇧⌘A or ⇧⌘A⌘3 or ⌘3^ ⇧ A, ⌃⇧A or ⌃⇧A^ ⇧ A, ⌃⇧A or ⌃⇧A, type
preferencesand press ⏎ or ⏎⏎ or ⏎⏎ or ⏎Enter, ⏎ or ⏎Enter, ^ M, ⏎, ⌃M, ⏎ or ⌃M. See Navigating to Action. - Click
in the upper-right corner of the IntelliJ IDEA window, and type
preferences. See Searching Everywhere.
To quickly find an option or setting
- Open the Settings / Preferences dialog.
- In the search field, start typing the text that you expect to find in the name of the setting.
As soon as the specified text is found, the matching element is highlighted and
the corresponding page is displayed.
