When you use some template engine with IntelliJ IDEA to create a template, you need to specify the template data language for the template, to enable coding assistance and syntax highlighting.

To change template data language settings for a file, directory, or an entire project
  1. Open the Settings dialog box.
  2. Select Project Settings | Template Data Languages.
  3. In the File/Directory column click the desired item (a template file, a folder with template files, or an entire project). In the Template data language column select the underlying language from the drop-down list.
