Suppose you have selected a file or member in one of the tool windows, and would like to quickly find it in the Project view. The Select Target pop-up menu moves the focus to the selected component of IntelliJ IDEA, the file system, etc.:
- Project View
- Favorites
- Remote Host
- Framework Views
- Spring Beans
- Spring MVC
- File Structure
- Database View
- Coverage
- Grails/Griffon View
- Navigation Bar
- Version Control tool window
- Show in Explorer
- Web Browser
- Project Structure
- Thumbnails
- Maven Project
- On the main menu select Navigate and click Select In,
or press ⌥F1 or ⌥F1⌥F1 or ⌥F1⌥⌘W or ⌥⌘W⌥ F1, ⌥F1 or ⌥F1⌥ F1, ⌥F1 or ⌥F1.
The Select Target pop-up menu shows up.
- Use the arrow keys or the mouse pointer to select the desired component.
If your target is the Project tool window, you can select
the desired view: Project, Scratches etc.

Double-click selected file or member in one of the tool windows, or press ⏎ or ⏎⏎ or ⏎⏎ or ⏎Enter, ⏎ or ⏎Enter, ^ M, ⏎, ⌃M, ⏎ or ⌃M to open it in the editor.
