Depending on the category of the folder you are currently in (see e.g. Folder categories), use the New | Directory or the New | Package command to create a directory or a number of nested directories.

  1. Open the Project tool window (e.g. View | Tool Windows | Project).
  2. Select the destination directory.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Select File | New | Directory or File | New | Package depending on which option (Directory or Package) is available.
    • Select New | Directory or New | Package from the context menu.
    • Press ⌘N⌃N⌘N⌃N and select Directory or Package.
  4. In the dialog that opens, specify the directory name. If you want to create a number of nested directories, specify the directory names separated with slashes (if you used the New | Directory command) or dots (if you used the New | Package command).
