The
Add/Edit Highlighting Pattern dialog box helps creating or editing a code pattern for
Structural Search and Replace and specify whether to include it in
Code Analysis.

| Search area | This area contains controls that help you create a search pattern and specify search conditions. Most controls in this area are identical to those in Search area in the Search with Pattern dialog box. Controls that only appear in the Add/Edit Highlighting Pattern dialog box are described below. |

You can specify a severity level for current pattern:

| Description | Optionally, you can specify the search pattern description. This description is shown in the Pattern Catalog dialog box and is used as tooltip for the corresponding highlighting. |
| Replace area | This area contains controls that help you create a replace pattern and specify actions after the replacement. Most controls in this area are identical to those in the Replace area in the Search with Pattern dialog box, with the addition of Description text box. |

Optionally, you can specify the replace pattern description.
This description is shown in the
Pattern Catalog dialog box and is used as the name of the corresponding quick-fix.

| Placeholder area | This area contains controls that help you create placeholders and manage them. All controls in this area are identical to those in Placeholder area in the Search with Pattern dialog box. |
| Command buttons | Command buttons that are available in the Add/Edit Highlighting Pattern dialog box and are used to initiate immediate actions. |
| Add | Click this button to add recently created pattern to the catalog. |
| Save | Click this button to save changes. |
| Save Copy | Click this button to save a copy of current pattern. |
