Default Launcher

A launcher is a tool that starts the remove development client when a user connects to a dev environment. CodeCanvas supports two launchers:

• JetBrains Gateway – a desktop app specifically developed for working with remote IDEs.

• JetBrains Toolbox – a desktop app that manages your JetBrains IDEs, projects, and can also launch remote IDE sessions. Note that Toolbox support is in the beta state and might contain issues.

When a user starts a dev environment in CodeCanvas, the system will attempt to open the selected launcher on their local machine. If the launcher is not installed, the user can download it using the provided link.

A system administrator can set a default launcher for all users in the organization. Users can override this in their personal settings.
