Inspectopedia 2026.2 Help

'HasPrefix' and 'TrimPrefix' can use 'strings.CutPrefix'

Reports code that checks a prefix with strings.HasPrefix and then removes the same prefix with strings.TrimPrefix.

This pattern scans the prefix twice. strings.CutPrefix removes the prefix in one step and returns the updated string and a boolean that reports whether the prefix was present.

Example:

func Strip(s string) (string, bool) { if strings.HasPrefix(s, "v") { return strings.TrimPrefix(s, "v"), true } return s, false }

To fix the code, use the Replace HasPrefix/TrimPrefix with CutPrefix quick-fix.

After the quick-fix is applied:

func Strip(s string) (string, bool) { if after, ok := strings.CutPrefix(s, "v"); ok { return after, true } return s, false }
