Manage Namespaces

To perform namespace management tasks, you need the Namespace Admin role within the namespace. Learn more

Create a namespace

  1. Select Namespaces in the header navigation, then in the sidebar menu, select All namespaces.

  2. On the top right, click New namespace.

  3. Specify namespace settings:

    • Name: Come up with the namespace name, at least two characters long.

    • Key: A short unique namespace identifier that will be used in links to the namespace entities.

    • Tags (Optional): A tag to attribute a namespace to some group of related namespaces. It can be in the form of a slash-separated virtual path. Select an existing tag from the list, or create a new one.

    • Description (Optional): A short description of your namespace that will be displayed under the namespace name.

  4. Click Create.

You will be prompted to the namespace's home page. Now you can add a repository and specify who will have access to this namespace.

Assign namespace administrators

  1. Select Namespaces in the header navigation, then in the sidebar menu, select All namespaces.

  2. Click the namespace you want to assign an administrator to.

  3. In the sidebar menu, select Access.

  4. Click Add people and select the users or user groups you want to assign as administrators.

  5. Ensure that the added users or groups have the Administrator role.

Find a namespace

By default, if you don't have the System Administrator role, you can see only the namespaces where you are an administrator. Typically, all your namespaces are shown on the sidebar. If a namespace is missing, you can find it on the Namespaces page. There you can search for a namespace by its name or tag.

To open the Namespaces page, click All namespaces on the sidebar.

Edit a namespace

  1. Open the namespace.

  2. In the sidebar namespace menu, select Settings.

  3. Go to the Info tab.

  4. Change the required settings and click Save.

Delete a namespace

  1. Open the namespace.

  2. In the sidebar namespace menu, select Settings.

  3. Go to the Info tab.

  4. Click Delete at the bottom of the page.

Track user activity in a namespace

To understand how dev environments are used within a namespace, open the namespace and select User Activity in the sidebar menu.

Choose a month to view the following metrics:

  • Unique Active Users – how many unique users started at least one dev environment per day. Such users are also called daily active users (DAU).

The Total users metric shows the total number of unique users for the selected month.

  • New Dev Environments – how many new dev environments were created each day. This number doesn't include the environments that were stopped and then started again.

The Total new dev environments metric shows the total number of new dev environments for the selected month.
