Inspectopedia 2026.2 Help

Nested embedded field literals can be removed

Reports composite literals that initialize a promoted field through an embedded struct literal.

In Go 1.27 and later, you can initialize fields promoted from an embedded struct directly in the outer composite literal. This removes the nested embedded struct layer and keeps all field values in one literal.

Example:

type Coord struct { X, Y int } type Marker struct { Coord Label string } var Origin = Marker{ Coord: Coord{X: 0, Y: 0}, Label: "origin", }

To fix the code, use the Remove embedded field type Coord quick-fix.

After the quick-fix is applied:

var Origin = Marker{ X: 0, Y: 0, Label: "origin", }
