MCP servers
The MCP servers page lets you configure Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers at the organization level. MCP servers extend AI tools with additional context, such as access to external data sources, APIs, or custom tools.
By default, configured MCP servers are not available to users and service accounts. To provide access to a server, you need to explicitly add it to an AI policy. The Policies column in the MCP servers table shows which AI policies include each MCP server.
The following types of MCP servers are supported:
A command server that runs as a local process and communicates over standard input/output.
A remote server that runs remotely and communicates over HTTP.
The server type cannot be changed after the server is created.
Users can also add MCP servers locally in their IDEs and JetBrains Air if the relevant AI policy allows it.
Add a command MCP server
In the sidebar, under AI governance, select MCP.
If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are inactive, your role doesn't have the necessary permissions.
Click Add MCP server.
In the New MCP server dialog, select the Command tab.
In the MCP server name field, specify a display name for the MCP server.
In the Command field, specify a command used to run the MCP server.
(Optional) In the Arguments field, specify additional command-line arguments to pass to the server.
(Optional) Click Environment variables to expand the section, then click Add variable, and specify variables for the server (API keys or configuration settings).
Click Add.
A success message appears in the lower right corner. The MCP server is now listed in the table.
If the process fails, ensure the configuration is correct, and click Add to try again.
