'strings.Index' and slicing can use 'strings.Cut'

Reports code that uses strings.Index to find a separator and then slices the string manually.

strings.Cut splits a string around the first instance of a separator and returns the prefix, suffix, and a boolean that reports whether the separator was found.

Example:

func SplitKV(s string) (key, value string, ok bool) {
	i := strings.Index(s, "=")
	if i < 0 {
		return s, "", false
	}
	return s[:i], s[i+1:], true
}

To fix the code, use the Simplify strings.Index call using strings.Cut quick-fix.

After the quick-fix is applied:

func SplitKV(s string) (key, value string, ok bool) {
	before, after, ok0 := strings.Cut(s, "=")
	if !ok0 {
		return s, "", false
	}
	return before, after, true
}
