Licensing and activation
You can evaluate Java and Kotlin by IntelliJ IDEA free of charge for up to 60 days.
Java and Kotlin by IntelliJ IDEA offers the following activation options:
Free trial: a 60-day trial to explore all code editor features.
Paid license — a paid subscription for commercial use.
Trial and subscription
When you start Java and Kotlin by IntelliJ IDEA for the first time, you will be automatically granted a free 60-day trial.
After the trial version expires, you need to buy and register an IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate license to continue using Java and Kotlin by IntelliJ IDEA. A new trial period will be available for the next major version of Java and Kotlin by IntelliJ IDEA.
Activate Java and Kotlin by IntelliJ IDEA
Click the Java and Kotlin by IntelliJ IDEA icon in the bottom right corner of the code editor.
Choose one of the available activation options:
Log in to your JetBrains Account and get licenses that you have purchased.
If you do not have a JetBrains Account yet, click Register.
Provide an activation code and click Activate.
When purchasing a product license, you receive a code for its offline activation. You can always download available activation codes from your JetBrains Account.
Register using the Floating License Server or License Vault.
